United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Arnhild Spence of Norway as United Nations Resident Coordinator in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the host Government’s approval. She took up her post on 1 September.

Ms. Macdonald has over 25 years of experience in development cooperation, humanitarian action and peacebuilding.

Mr. O’Malley has over 25 years of experience in humanitarian and development work. He most recently served as the United Nations Resident Coordinator ad interim in Kazakhstan from November 2024 to June 2025. 

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Karla Robin Hershey of the United States as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Samoa, with the host Governments’ approval, on 26 April 2025. Based in Apia, Samoa, Ms. Hershey will head the Samoa Multi-Country Office and coordinate the UN development operations in Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau.

Kristèle Younès of Lebanon has been appointed as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Guinea, with the host Government’s approval.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Muhannad Hadi of Jordan as his new Deputy Special Coordinator, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed François Batalingaya of Rwanda as the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Chad, with the host Government’s approval. He starts on 15 March 2024.

Mr. Julien Harneis has been appointed as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Yemen. He took up his post this week and will also serve as the Humanitarian Coordinator in the country.
