The impacts of climate change, environmental degradation and disasters are unequally felt across Asia and the Pacific region with women and marginalized communities facing the greatest impacts. They have less access to resources, finance, and technologies, leaving them with greater challenges in coping and rebuilding after a crisis.
Gender-responsive climate finance is key to ensuring they can cope with these impacts. Through the EmPower: Women for Climate-Resilient Societies Programme (EmPower), UN Women and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) aim to scale up gender-responsive and human rights-based climate action in Asia and the Pacific.
EmPower utilizes various strategic financial interventions to unlock private capital into the development and expansion of clean energy technologies for commercial use, with a focus on women and other marginalized individuals.
Watch to learn how we can enhance women’s access to climate finance.
