Caption: In Uganda, new technology is enabling students who are blind, visually impaired, deaf or hard of hearing to access reading materials. In this photo, Patricia, age 10, works with her teacher, Samuel Atuhair, to operate a digital book reader. Students can use this device to record lessons and access audiobooks. Other materials provided by the Government of Uganda with UNICEF support include text-to-speech features (screen readers, direct narration) and software that graphically enhances pictures in books.
