Rapid Integrated Assessment (RIA) Tool

Rapid Integrated Assessment (RIA) Tool to facilitate mainstreaming of SDGs into national and local plans: This tool aims to aid countries to assess their readiness to implement the SDGs. The assessment is a first step in the process of localizing the SDGs. It reviews the current National/Sub-national Development Plans and relevant sector strategies, and provides an indicative overview of the level of alignment between the plans/strategies and SDG targets. It also identifies the potential need for multi-sectoral coordination around the achievement of specific SDG targets. The tool has been applied in over 25 countries.

Engagement:

The engagement of policymakers at the national and/or subnational (regional, district, municipal) levels is critical. This includes stakeholders from the government (head of state’s office, finance, planning, subnational bodies, sectoral ministries, national statistics office). Other experts and practitioners – in particular, from NGOs and civil society – may also find this tool useful when working towards developing plans to implement the SDGs, while supporting government partners.
