How are cities accelerating progress towards the SDGs? And how can cities and human settlements contribute to a transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies? Join a discussion on how urban poverty, climate change, exclusion, conflict prevention and inequality are tackled by cities of the world, and how the SDGs under review at this year’s High-level Political Forum are being implemented at the local level.  The discussion will take place during an event entitled The SDGs In Action: Working together for inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities and human settlements, organized by the UN Sustainable Development Group during the High-Level Political Forum.

The event will illustrate how the UN Development System works together to support Member States, local governments and other non-state actors to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the sub-national level, with a particular focus on the imperative to leave no one behind. In addition to a number of keynote speakers, the event will include senior government representatives, mayors and civil society members.

The event has now passed. Please access the recording on the UN TV channel. For the speeches, please refer to the  background documents section below.
